Research

The Blum Initiative supports innovative, high impact research by UCR faculty and graduate students across a range of disciplines. To-date, our Faculty Seed Research and Graduate Student Research grants have generated exciting research related to family economic insecurity in Indonesia, education along the California-Mexico border, sex work among undocumented/potentially trafficked workers in Southern California, support for universal basic income, and the effects of economic inequality on education, among other topics.

In 2017, the Initiative created the California Poverty and Socioeconomic Fellows Program, which harnessed the power of the Blum Federation and knowledge of UC scholars, by bringing together advanced graduate students from multiple UC campuses and across multiple disciplines.
