The Blum Initiative has created three internal funding opportunities to support cutting-edge, poverty-related research and immersive service-learning. These awards include the Faculty Research Seed Grant (available to all eligible UCR faculty), the Graduate Research Grant (available to all eligible UCR graduate students), and the Service-Learning Fellowship (available to all UCR students)

Calls for proposals are typically announced late in the Fall Quarter and funding decisions are made by the Blum Initiative’s steering committee late in the Winter Quarter. All applications will be evaluated for the extent to which the proposal aligns with the Initiative’s mission, the potential for innovation and impact, and the faculty or student’s demonstrated scholarly record and potential.
